“This year's theme is Get the Best...In Travel! because we want to give visitors the best deal with more choices.

He also said those who owned MATTA credit cards would be rewarded.
“They will get two entrance tickets to the fair, two meal vouchers and be entitled to enter the MATTA business lounge,” he said during the launch of MATTA Fair 2012 at Istana Hotel here yesterday.

| 08 November 2011 - Tourism Agents Will Appreciate MATTA Fair 2012 |
Tourism Agents Will Appreciate Matta Fair 2012
Travel agents come together for Matta fair 2012. This annual affair sponsored by the Malaysian Association of Travel and Tourism Agents, draws visitors from all corners of the globe to exchange travel ideas, products and information. The initial gathering attracted fewer than ten thousand participants but that number has expanded exponentially in the past couple decades since the fair began in 1991. Next year’s event is expected to feature over eight hundred vendor booths and several thousand participants. The international community will converge on Kuala Lumpur for this exciting annual event.
The 2012 event will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s bustling primate city that houses the world’s two tallest buildings and is home to millions and millions of people. Kuala Lumpur has become a major international tourist destination, attracting visitors from Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Australia and the rest of Asia. Between stops at the event’s vending booths, the enterprising visitor can choose to explore the many shops, markets, night clubs and restaurants of the vibrant Malaysian city. They can also visit the region’s many religious, historical and cultural sites.
The city can experience heavy monsoon rains so visitors should be prepared for the potential for wet weather and perhaps even flooding. In addition, high humidity and daytime highs in the nineties can make afternoons physically uncomfortable. Tourists should pack rain gear and light weight clothing to prepare for these potential inclement weather conditions.
The trade show will have product displays and sell items related to tourism and traveling. Anticipated products include souvenirs, gifts and audio-visual equipment like cameras and camcorders. Other featured vendors will include credit card companies, theme park representatives, resorts, luxury hotels and tourism management companies.
The fair is an excellent chance to network with other people employed in the travel and tourism industry. The event attracts individuals and vendors from around the world. Malaysia has become a popular international tourist destination and the fair is ideally located to display the country’s hospitality and its cultural vibrancy.
Visitors may also be able to find bargains on travel packages, airline fares and resort stays for cities in Malaysia and across the globe. Those who can make it to the event are likely to find it worthwhile for this reason as well as many other reasons. The event is truly an incredible experience.
Travelers to the Matta fair should plan ahead for the best deals on airline tickets and hotel reservations. Many area hotels will provide first rate lodging at reduced prices for event attendees. Call around early for the best rates on rooms with all the best amenities. Kuala Lumpur has many fancy resort hotels including several recognizable international chains.
Matta Fair 2012 is expected to be one of the biggest travel fairs of its kind anywhere, so agents, tourists and merchandise sellers should make it a point to attend this special event. This marks the twenty-first year the fair has been in operation and each year tends to exceed the previous year in terms of turnout and opportunities. Next year’s event is expected to be no exception as many people from around the world are planning to be there.

FAIR VISITORS WALK AWAY WITH PRIZES
IT ALL came down to luck for the selected contestants at the prize presentation ceremony of the Malaysian Association of Travel and Tours (MATTA) Fair buyers contest in Putra World Trade Centre recently.
Out of the 15,000 contest entries submitted during MATTA Fair last month, about 40 contestants were selected to attend the prize presentation ceremony.
A variety of prizes was offered to the visitors at the fair, including travel vouchers and tour packages to both domestic and international destinations.
The contestants determined their own fate by drawing lots from a box.
As luck would have it, the domestic draw grand prize of RM5,000 worth of travel vouchers went to homemaker Joanne Marie, who was left in a whirl of disbelief when her piece of paper read “Thank you for participating”.
MATTA Fair 2010 organising chairman John Tan played along, telling Joanne that all the prizes had already been given out.
When the mock cheque was finally handed to her, she said: “I thought I drove all the way through the traffic jam for nothing!”
Other lucky domestic draw winners walked away with travel vouchers and return airline tickets to various local destinations.

For the international draw, retired school teacher Jeamjothi Chelliah was ecstatic when she drew the grand prize of RM20,000 worth of travel vouchers.
She bought tickets to London and filled up 14 forms for the buyers contest at the fair.
The other international draw winners received tour packages and airline tickets to Bangkok, Bali, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Melbourne, London and South Korea.
Another MATTA Fair will be held from Aug 12-14 in conjunction with the Hari Raya season.

| 05 January 2011 - MATTA FAIR MARCH 2011-LAUNCH RECEPTION |
|

If you see some very colourful taxis on the road today, you’d find that these rainbow infused cabs are MATTA Fair sponsored taxis. The bombardment of colours would brighten up anyone’s day. Speaking of which, MATTA Fair recently held their 2011 Official Launch Reception. The event shrugged away the usual ‘Malaysian timing’ misconception by starting on time, much to everyone’s relief.

I must say, the choice for the venue was a good one as the atmosphere and ambience of Hakka Republic at Menara Hap Seng was perfect for a mingling session with the different representatives of various travel agencies, airlines and National Tourism Boards from various countries. And who can say no to the free flow of drinks and delicious finger food?

Clockwise from left: Chef Adi and guests enjoying good food and drinks.
After the initial mingling session, MATTA’s Deputy President and MATTA Fair Organizing Chairman, John Tan, gave a short speech explaining about the March 2011 MATTA Fair. The fair will be held from the 11to 13 March 2011 at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. This year it’s going to be the 31st Travel Fair organized by MATTA and like in the previous years, you can expect some sweet deals and discounts there. Members of MATTA can enjoy a discount of RM500 per booth as exhibitors if they register early (Early Bird Discount which runs for 2 weeks from the first day of registration). If you’ve been a loyal member of MATTA and have participated in the last 3 MATTA Fairs consecutively, you get a further discount of RM500 per booth! (Loyalty Incentive Discount)

Tan then introduced the team behind MATTA Fair 2011 and as they came on stage, he explained that this year, MATTA Fair has a colourful theme. What’s the reason behind this rainbow message? Tan said that people should travel in order to colour their lives. And so because of this theme, MATTA also got new business cards that were colour-coded for each Organising Committee Member. Tan also informed the crowd that the MATTA headquarters had relocated to the Fraser Business Park effective 3rd January 2011.

With that being said, watch out for the MATTA Fair taxis with the ever so colourful MATTA Fair rainbow!

LOAN OFFICER WINS MATTA FAIR 2010 TRAVEL 'JACKPOT'
KUALA LUMPUR: Loan officer Ng Pei Ling has a RM20, 000 windfall to spend on overseas trips after she was named the grand prize winner of the MATTA Fair 2010.
The 33-year-old has her sister to thank - she bought a trip to Taiwan to attend her sister's convocation next month. “She really brought me luck. I wasn't aiming to win any prize, much less the grand prize,” said Ng, who bought a RM5, 000 8D/7N trip for herself, her parents and her five siblings at the fair.
Ng, married and living in Kuala Lumpur, received the good news via a call from MATTA last month.
Consolation prizes of return tickets to various international and domestic destinations were also announced at the prize presentation ceremony yesterday. About 13,000 buyers submitted contest forms during the fair.
Homemaker Wong Siew Kuen from Kajang was the big winner of the domestic draw section, pocketing RM5,000 in travel vouchers. Wong sent in three entries for the contest when she bought a tour to Langkawi.
MATTA deputy president John Tan expected the next fair in September to feature more discounts and innovation in tours and travel offers. “We hope exhibitors will look into more discounts and be more innovative in selling tours,” he said.
The March fair saw an attendance of 101,000 visitors, double the number over the previous fair. Over 200 participating exhibitors recorded ticket and tour sales totaling more than RM95mil.
