LOYAL exhibitors at the Matta Fair in September will be given a discount of RM500 per booth.

Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) presi-dent Datuk Mohd Khalid Harun said the discount was only gi- ven to exhibitors who had taken part in three fairs consecutively.

Mohd Khalid said this during the launch at Bossa Nova restaurant in Parkroyal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Matta Fair organising chairman John Tan said the dinner organised in conjunction with the launch was to show their appreciation to travel agents, airlines, embassies and loyal supporters.

The fair will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre from Sept 3 to 5.

In Malacca, the fair will be held at Dataran Merdeka from Aug 6-8 followed by Johor (Danga City Mall, July 23-25), Negri Sembilan (Seremban Parade Shopping Centre, July 9-11), Penang (Penang International Sports Arena, July 2-4), Pahang (Kuantan Parade, June 25-27), Perak (Sept 3-5), Sabah (Aug 20-22) and Sarawak (Dec 10-12).

LOAN OFFICER WINS MATTA FAIR 2010 TRAVEL 'JACKPOT'

KUALA LUMPUR: Loan officer Ng Pei Ling has a RM20, 000 windfall to spend on overseas trips after she was named the grand prize winner of the MATTA Fair 2010.

The 33-year-old has her sister to thank - she bought a trip to Taiwan to attend her sister's convocation next month. “She really brought me luck. I wasn't aiming to win any prize, much less the grand prize,” said Ng, who bought a RM5, 000 8D/7N trip for herself, her parents and her five siblings at the fair.

Ng, married and living in Kuala Lumpur, received the good news via a call from MATTA last month.

Consolation prizes of return tickets to various international and domestic destinations were also announced at the prize presentation ceremony yesterday. About 13,000 buyers submitted contest forms during the fair.

Homemaker Wong Siew Kuen from Kajang was the big winner of the domestic draw section, pocketing RM5,000 in travel vouchers. Wong sent in three entries for the contest when she bought a tour to Langkawi.

MATTA deputy president John Tan expected the next fair in September to feature more discounts and innovation in tours and travel offers. “We hope exhibitors will look into more discounts and be more innovative in selling tours,” he said.

The March fair saw an attendance of 101,000 visitors, double the number over the previous fair. Over 200 participating exhibitors recorded ticket and tour sales totaling more than RM95mil.
